A practical introduction to earth pigments from North Devon and Cornwall with environmental artist Peter Ward.

This popular workshop will offer participants a journey through geology, local history, paint making and painting with North Devon and Cornish earth pigments. After an introduction to the pigments, including the locally renowned Bideford Black, we will experiment with a range of processing techniques and binders including egg tempera, linseed oil and gum Arabic before making some paintings individually and as a group. The workshop is a starting point for your own more intimate journey with earth and natural colour.
